Mr. and Mrs. Norman (Maureen) Glowniak
Miss Maureen McCarthy and Mr. Norman Glowniak exchanged nuptial vows on Saturday, Aug. 13, 1977 at Holy Trinity Church in Dunkirk. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Alan (Marie) Stuhlmiller of Dunkirk and Mr. Thomas McCarthy of Albany. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter (Jane) Glowniak of Forestville.
The Rev. Thomas Maloney performed the 2 p.m. double-ring candlelight ceremony with Mrs. Frances Corsi, organist and soloist. Escorted by her father to an altar enhanced with arrangements of mums, daisies and baby’s breath, the bride chose a white silk gown with Venise lace framing the circlet neckline. The lace was repeated on the long tapered sleeves and flounce cuffs and from the empire bodice onto the bell silhouetted skirt. Lace appliques in a circular design enhanced the cathedral train. Her four-tiered veil fell from a lace-trimmed Juliet headpiece. She carried a cascade of baby blue tinted roses with carnations and baby’s breath.
The bride’s sister, Mrs. Ann Marie Cieslewicz of Findlay, Ohio, was matron of honor. Her light blue qiana knit gown had a halter-style bodice and softly-flared skirt. A brief capelet and ripple-trim picture hat with satin trim completed her outfit. Her bouquet featured large tinted blue mums and baby’s breath. Five attendants, all dressed in yellow gowns similar to the honor attendant’s, carried yellow tinted mums with baby’s breath. They were Mrs. Shelly Jakubowicz of Dunkirk, and the Misses Diane Andriano of Albany, the bride’s cousin, Debbie Golden of Fredonia, and Molly Phillips and Cheryl Kozlowski of Dunkirk. Groomsmen were Mr. Thomas Glowniak of San Clemente, California, best man, and the Messrs. Ray Glowniak of Dunkirk, William Glowniak of Forestville, Thomas McCarthy Jr. of Dunkirk, the bride’s brother; Kevin McCarthy, Michael McCarthy and Bryan McCarthy, all of Dunkirk, and Ronald Duliba and Russell Crecraft, both of Forestville, were ushers.
Mrs. Stuhlmiller, the bride’s mother, wore a mint green knit gown and favored an orchid corsage. The bridegroom’s mother chose a light blue knit gown and also wore an orchid corsage.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Elks Club in Dunkirk. Out-of-town guests attended from San Clemente, California; Findlay, Ohio; the Bronx. Albany, Guilderland, and Schenectady.
