The Allegheny Highlands Council, Boy Scouts of America, recently formed a local chapter of the National Eagle Scout Association. Its purpose is to bond Eagle Scouts and find Eagle Scouts from days past and rekindle their pledge to help other scouts down the path to Eagle.

“Come back and smell the smoke of the campfire, the boys need us” said Doug Cashing, the council NESA Chairman, a board member and Eagle Scout himself.

Every year, the chapter can honor two Eagle Scouts for noteworthy service to their council. For the inaugural year, the committee selected Ed Ahrens, council president and Eagle Scout since 1952, and John Wojciechowicz, council executive and Eagle Scout since 1970, to receive the Outstanding Eagle Scout Award.
