Chautauqua Historical Meeting Thursday

Chautauqua Township Historical Society invites the public to join them in hearing about a former whaler adventurer, Alonzo Sampson, who is buried in Cattaraugus County. The meeting is Thursday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. in the Sid Compton Room at the old Mayville high school building, 2 Academy St., Mayville. The speaker is Sam Genco from Jamestown.

Literacy Volunteers book sale begins Thursday

Literacy Volunteers will be holding a book sale Sept. 21, 22 and 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 21 East Bookstore, 21 E. Second St., Dunkirk. Patrons are asked to use the Washington Avenue entrance. Paperbacks are 50 cents, hardcovers $1 and children’s books are 25 cents. There are some specially-priced books. The public is invited to browse, take home some bargains and to assist the organization in the work of promoting literacy.

Sil ver Creek junior class plans Food Truck Fundraiser for Friday

A food truck fundraiser featuring Chef’s On-the-Go of Buffalo and Coldstone Creamery will benefit the junior class at the Silver Creek Central School District on Friday, Sept. 22. It runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in front of the high school loop, 1 Dickinson St., Silver Creek, across from the football field.
