Auxiliary to the John T. Murray Post 1017 meeting set

The Auxiliary to the John T. Murray Post 1017 meeting is Saturday, Sept. 9 at 12:30 p.m. at the Post, 113 Deer St., Dunkirk. The Auxiliary will be inspected by Margaret Sheldon. Please note the change in time. Auxiliary officers/members are asked to call Pat at 341-1328 if unable to attend. Upcoming activities will be discussed. The district meeting will be held Sunday, Sept 10 in Franklinville at 1 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend.

September Fair

The Laona United Methodist Church at the corner of Wilson Road and Porter Avenue in Fredonia will be having a huge yard sale 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Weidner’s chicken barbecue 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9 for $10 per person. The meal includes half chicken, buttered spuds, tossed salad, roll, drink and ice cream. There will also be baked goods and hot dogs for sale 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Kids Korner with crafts, games and face painting, a prayer tent for those who may be seeking a quiet place to talk with Our Lord or have a conversation with Pastor Mike. There will also be entertainment throughout the day. Come and join in for a day filled with fellowship, food and fun! For more information, contact the Laona U.M. Lakeshore Humane Society holds Pet Adoption Day/Open House

The Lakeshore Humane Society will hold a Pet Adoption Day/Open House at its Adoption Center on Saturday, Sept. 9 from noon to 4 p.m. The center is located at 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk. Come to see the facility, and meet some of the dogs and cats who need caring homes.

If unable to come to an Adoption Day, call 672-1991 to arrange an appointment to see the dogs and cats awaiting adoption. (One must be 21 years of age or older to adopt a pet.)

There is a collection bin in the Adoption Center lobby for refundable bottles and cans.
