Popular Awana Club Program returns to FFUMC
Students and parents gathered Wednesday, Sept. 20 to kick-off the Awana Club Program at Fredonia First United Methodist Church. The club meets weekly on Wednesdays from 6:15-8 p.m. and is open to any student grade K-12.
June Ruckman, FFUMC Youth Director said she was thrilled with the night’s turnout, and is hoping that even more students join in the coming weeks. “We love that local students enjoy Awana Club and return year after year, what we love even more is when new students join us for the fun, fellowship and friendship of Awana. I invite any student K-12 to join us on a Wednesday evening and see what we’re all about.”
For younger students, Awana provides a great place to make new friends, play exciting games, compete in rewarding and challenging contests, receive awards as reinforcements for their good performance, sing songs, and grow in their knowledge of God’s word. For older students, Awana provides not only fun, but fellowship and a sense of community as well.
The name Awana is an acronym which stands for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed” and is taken from II Timothy 2:15. Awana Club programs are specifically designed to help youth become young adults who work at understanding and applying scriptural principles in every-day life.
All Awana staff & volunteers are trained and follow safe sanctuary guidelines.
The FFUMC Awana Club follows the Fredonia Central School calendar for scheduled closings as well as cancellations due to inclement weather. Closings and other program information is also posted on their Facebook page.
