CCRM Healthy Heart workshop Sunday

The next Healthy Heart workshop is scheduled for Sunday at the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry, Inc., 127 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Marsha Miller is the guest chef, demonstrating how to make bread and butter pickles.

Miller is a long-time volunteer and active community member. She retired after 45 years as a teacher at Northern Chautauqua Catholic School, and has been a volunteer and served on its board for many years. She is also a familiar face at the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry, where she volunteers to help with seasonal programs. She is an avid baker and busy grandmother, spending much of her time taking care of others. She is also involved in the prison ministry at Albion Correctional Facility.

All are welcome to attend this informative demonstration on the health value of fermented and pickled foods.

The Healthy Heart Workshops are generally scheduled the third Sunday of each month at 3 p.m. They last about 90 minutes, and are free of charge. At the end of each workshop, registered participants are eligible to win a kitchen tool or a food related gift. There is limited seating for the workshops, so call the Rural Ministry, or email ccrmsahl@gmail.com for a reserved seat.

For questions regarding upcoming workshop events, contact Sherry Lantz at the Rural Ministry, 366-1787. Cooking and Nutrition Workshops are made possible by a grant through New York State Department of Health and the United Way of Northern Chautauqua County.
