Westfield names Middle School Students of the Month
WESTFIELD — On a monthly basis, Westfield Middle School honors one student at each grade level as the Student of the Month. Teachers and staff had the opportunity to nominate one student who they believed met the following criteria:
1. Follows Westfield’s Rules of Respect for staff and peers
2. Shows outstanding effort and improvement or shows achievement and consistent high scores on tests, quizzes and projects
3. Prepared daily to participate in all classes
4. Serves as a positive role model for peers
5. Demonstrates a positive attitude and good citizenship
Three students were selected as a Student of the Month for the month of December.
In 6th grade, Cameron Paternosh was selected as Student of the Month. Cameron’s favorite classes are physical education and math. He love sports, and he likes the challenges that come with learning new math concepts. One hobby he enjoys is hunting with his dad, as it allows them to spend time together, bonding. Cameron’s future goals are to attend college (maybe University at Buffalo), and become a doctor.
In 7th grade, Tyler Nichols is the December Student of the Month. Tyler enjoys physical education and advanced computers, because in PE, they plan fun games and never have homework, and in computers, he really likes the teacher and the activities. As a hobby, Tyler is a “gamer,” and two of his future goals are to never fail, and get even better grades.
Sheala Barresi was named “December Student of the Month” at the 8th grade level. Sheala also likes physical education because she enjoys sports, and she likes ELA because Mrs. Putney is one of her favorite teachers. She plays soccer outside of school, and in the future, Sheala is unsure about what career path she’ll choose, but she hopes to have a family and be happy.
