Fredonia High School Rotary Students of the Month

Fredonia High School Rotary Students of the Month are Will Schrantz and Destiny Draggett.

Will is the son of Ed and Kelly Schrantz. He has one brother and one sister (AJ and Erin). He is currently a senior at Fredonia High School, and has received the Principal’s award every quarter of each year. He will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma.

Will’s high school career has been characterized by a large number of extracurricular activities and sports. He has been a member of the cross-country and track & field teams since 9th grade. In his 10th grade year, Will earned the most improved player award for both cross-country and track and field. He also earned the most valuable player award for cross-country in his 11th grade year.

Additionally, Will has been a member of the symphonic band, jazz band, and pit orchestra for Fredonia throughout his entire high school career. Through the process of NYSSMA auditions, he achieved All-County band for 3 years, Area All-State band for three years, and Conference All-State this December. Will won the CCMTA music camp scholarship and the Independence Jazz Reunion scholarship in his 10th grade year, and also received the JCC Student of the Year award in his 11th grade year for his enrollment in JCC music history/music fundamentals. He was elected symphonic band president for his junior and senior years, and he was recently elected Tri-M Music Honor Society president.

Will is also a member of the National Honor Society, the Interact Club, and the Model UN. In Model UN, their group paper won the most outstanding position paper award at the Model UN conference at Gannon University.

Outside of school, Will participates in the Infinity jazz band, the Western New York (WNY) Alumni Drum Corps, and the Catholic Youth Organization at St. Anthony’s Church in Fredonia. Over the summer, he participated in Fredonia Summer Music Festival Band Camp, Cross Country Camp, and Chautauqua Institution Jazz Camp, each for three years.

After high school, Will is planning on double majoring in music education and saxophone performance at SUNY Fredonia, SUNY Potsdam, or Ithaca College.

Destiny is the daughter of Vrolet and Warren Draggett. She is currently a senior at Fredonia High school,  and is proud to have been chosen as the Rotary Student of the Month.

Throughout the school day Destiny participates in three advanced placement courses: literature, physics, and government as well as a variety of other courses including psychology and calculus. Throughout her years at Fredonia High School she has strived to be on the honor roll every quarter, and has happily met that goal. In the senior class she is ranked 6th out of 123 students. Destiny enjoys her classes greatly, and looks forward to furthering her education in the near future.

Outside of classes, Destiny enjoys dancing at Danza! Performing Arts Academy. She has been a part of Danza for 15 years and a part of the competition dance team for four years; she has received multiple awards for solos, and placed as a top three solo spot at nationals in Disney.

When Destiny is not dancing or working on school work, she enjoys being on the Fredonia High School basketball cheerleading team. She loves to get involved with school teams and organizations. Other than basketball cheerleading she is also on student council, and a leader of the annual Santa’s Workshop. Destiny hopes to continue dancing and being involved in school organizations next year.

As for future plans, she hopes to study at SUNY Geneseo majoring in international relations with a pre-law track. If possible, she would love to continue dancing and being a part of her college’s student government and other organizations. Luckily, SUNY Geneseo will allow her to do all of that and more.
