Club Associates honor late Mayor Frey

The Northern Chautauqua County Club Associates recently held their regular monthly meeting and elections at the Dunkirk Moose Lodge 89 in Dunkirk. Ray Lewandowski of the Moose Club welcomed the group.

The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a moment of silence for deceased members. A special moment was given for former Dunkirk Mayor Richard Frey, who attended many meetings in the past, and was a big backer of the area clubs.

Roll call was taken of officers and clubs. One officer was excused for work, and all clubs were present.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read by Secretary Jim Pryll, and a financial report was given by Treasurer Tom Halicki. Motions were made to accept both reports and passed.

Guest speaker was A.J. Dolce of Arcade Senior Services, who spoke about insurance policies for retirees. A question and answer period followed.

Elections were held for the year 2018, conducted by Charles St. George. Elected were the following: Joe Rozen, president, Pat Begier, vice-president, Jim Pryll, secretary, Tom Halicki, treasurer, and trustees Shane Boyle, Fran Lus and Ray Lewandowski. They will be sworn in at the annual banquet.

A donation was made to the county American Legion.

A donation was also made to the Dunkirk Little League program in the name of Richard Frey. Mr. Frey was fondly remembered as a man who did much for his city, his community, and the clubs.

The next meeting of the Associates will be the annual banquet to be held this year at the Kosciuszko Club on Saturday, Jan. 27. Cocktails will be at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. Clubs and guests will be receiving letters with all the details after the first of the year.

The meeting was adjourned with Christmas greetings.
