Forestville instrumental music teacher retires after 41 years
The Forestville Music Boosters hosted Forestville Central School’s 31st Alumni Band Concert and Retirement Dinner for Mr. Jeffrey Geblein. Mr. Geblein retired after 41 years of teaching at FCS. Included in the band were alumni, current high school, middle school and elementary school students. Also playing were former student teachers, colleagues, friends and college friends. In all, the band was composed of more than 90 members.
Each of the pieces selected for the band were special to Mr. Geblein, and he dedicated them to his past and present students, his wife and children, college friends, his former band teacher and others. The school superintendent, his daughters and several former students spoke and described their experiences with Mr. Geblein.
In addition, Ms. Faith Leone was introduced to the audience. Over the last school year, she worked with Mr. Geblein to transition the instrumental music program to her oversight. She will certainly continue the history of musical excellence at Forestville Central Schools.
Following the concert was a dinner reception to honor Mr. Geblein.
During Jeff’s tenure at Forestville, he worked with concert, marching and jazz bands. He was the musical director for the school’s musicals. He took the bands on many trips and competitions and many other things to grow the instrumental music program.
