Jake Davis named Dunkirk-Fredonia Rotary Student of the Month

Jake Davis

Jake Davis has been selected as Rotary Student of the Month for February. He would like to thank the members of Fredonia Rotary for selecting him for this honor. Jake is the oldest son of Jeffery and Heather Davis. He would like to credit his achievements and the honor to his parents as it is a reflection of their hard work in raising him into the man he is today. He has three younger siblings: Timothy, Ryan, and Sarah who all attend Fredonia Central School with him.

Jake has taken on a demanding course load as he has taken three AP classes as well as many advanced classes in high school. Every quarter throughout his high school years he has been awarded the “Principal’s Award” for having an average in the upper 90’s. He is currently ranked in the top five of his class and his course load has been full without study halls every year.

Jake has been part of the Fredonia JV and Varsity Baseball team since 8th grade and has been part of the cross country team his freshman and senior years. His freshman year, Jake was awarded the “Coaches Award” in baseball for character, positive attitude, sportsmanship, and consistent and sincere effort. For the past eight years he has also been part of ski club.

Throughout his time at Fredonia, Jake has played trumpet since the fifth grade and sang in the chorus since the eighth grade. He is currently part of jazz band and symphonic band as well as Advanced Music Performance (AMP). For the past six years, Jake has participated in the Winter and Spring All-County as a member of the band and jazz band. He has been part of the middle and high school musicals through stage crew since the seventh grade. For the last four years he has been assistant stage member for numerous musicals.

He has and is participating in four extracurricular clubs at Fredonia including NHS, Tri-M Honor Society, Student Council and Interact Club. Currently he is an advisor for his class in student council. Jake has volunteered many hours at Bethany Camp in Sinclairville as part of the maintenance crew for the past five years.

Outside of school, sports, and other activities, Jake has also worked for his dad the past few summers at Davis Construction. Jake believes his faith is very important to him as he currently attends First Baptist Church of Dunkirk. During free time he enjoys being outdoors, riding his four-wheeler and/or playing basketball or other activities outside with his siblings. He also loves being with his family at home or traveling the country with their RV.

Next year, Jake plans on pursuing his dream by majoring in Construction Management at Ohio Northern University.
