… Elmira College released its Dean’s List for Academic Achievement for the Winter 2019 Term. The Dean’s List recognizes full-time undergraduate students who were registered for at least 12 computable credit hours and who earned a term grade point average of 3.6 or higher. …Crane School of Music student Gabrielle McCormack of Perrysburg is headed to the second round of the Classical Singer Vocal Competition, which will be held in Chicago next month.

McCormack was one of the winners in the regional live round held at SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music on April 14, and will now proceed to the competition second finals, which will be held in Chicago beginning on May 23. If successful, singers who advance compete in the semifinals and finals, also held in Chicago, through May 26.

The regional auditions were conducted by Donald George, a professor of voice at The Crane School of Music. The other judges included Crane faculty members Nils Klykken and Colleen Skull.

The Classical Singer Vocal Competition offers $2.1 million in scholarships, $16,000 in cash awards, immediate written feedback and invaluable networking experience for participants, who can compete in classical or musical theatre categories for high school, intermediate or advanced university or emerging professionals.
