Faith in Practice mission trips discussed

WESTFIELD – St. Peter’s and the First Presbyterian Church of Westfield recognized Cinco de Mayo on May 5 with a bilingual service led by Pastor Dana and Mother Virginia. A potluck followed with a variety of ethnic tastes enjoyed by all. Deanna Scharf ended the night with a presentation of another successful trip to Guatemala from March 11 to 19.

These mission trips – Faith in Practice – provide essential medical services to those without medical care and the extremely impoverished. Volunteers and medical personal support their own travel needs.

Those fortunate enough to receive care can travel long distances or wait in long lines (some overnight) in order to be selected. Her team would provide general medicine, pediatric, gynecology, labs, VIA/CRYO, dental, pharmacy, and referrals for surgery and other services. More than 1,900 patients would receive care in as little as four days.
