Stockton two-year-old giving back to hospital

STOCKTON – Two-year-old Zoey Collins competed in a New York State level beauty pageant after entering and winning a local one held at the Boulevard Mall in February. On May 21, winners of local pageants held all over New York state were invited to compete for the title of Sunburst Miss New York in Syracuse.

Zoey was crowned with the highest score of the 52 contestants between the ages of 0-4. She came home with six trophies (including one which was six feet high), seven crowns, a jeweled custom sash, and a $1,000 savings bond. She will go on to compete at a national level in Atlanta, Ga. at the end of July. Winners from each state will compete for the title. Zoey will be representing New York State and hoping to bring home the title.

Zoey placed in the following categories: prettiest hair; first runner up for swimwear; winner of super model search; winner of casual wear; winner of best photo composite. Winner of best photo portfolio, BB photography. Winner of best photo non edited, thanks to BB photography.

Zoey lives in Stockton with her parents Jim and Jennifer Collins, along with her four brothers, Austin Polowy, Brenden Polowy, Cody Collins and Carter Collins.

Her first job as Little Miss New York is to raise some money for a charity.

Zoey and her family will set up outside of several local stores and restaurants to try to have people donate even their spare change, with money raised going to Buffalo Children’s Hospital. Last January, Zoey bit a tidepod and was rushed there fighting for her life. She was in the intensive care unit for several days where she was put on a ventilator and induced to a coma to keep her from pulling the breathing vent from her throat.

“The nurses and doctors were amazing and this is a great way to repay them,” said Jennifer Collins.
