Fredonia High School Rotary Students of the Month for November

Caitlyn Cybart

HANNAH CYBART

Hannah Cybart is the daughter of Joel and Traci Cybart and is currently a senior at Fredonia High School.  She is ranked within the top five percent of her class.  Hannah has challenged herself academically throughout high school and as a result has been involved in multiple advanced and AP classes. She has received the Principal’s Award with Distinction for every quarter of her high school career and will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma.

Sports have always been a huge part of Hannah’s life, especially throughout high school. She has played volleyball, basketball and softball for Fredonia for the last four years. She has played softball and basketball as the varsity level since freshman year and varsity volleyball since halfway through her sophomore year. Hannah is very grateful to have received numerous accolades for her athletics including 6th Team All State and 1st Team All WNY for softball and Player of the Year for league and 11th Team All WNY for basketball.

In addition to sports, Hannah is also involved in many school clubs such as National Honor Society, Hiking Club, Yearbook, Model UN and Interact Club. She has thoroughly enjoyed her participation in all of these activities, but is particularly proud of her involvement in the latter two. This is because Interact Club gives its members great opportunities to become involved in community service, her favorite being the Special Olympics.  In addition, Model UN gives its members a chance to express their scholarly creativity in competition against other schools and the conference they attend at Gannon University is always a great experience.

Outside of school, Hannah is involved in her church community at Holy Trinity Parish where she altar serves, which she has done since fourth grade. During the summer, Hannah spends a lot of her time playing travel softball for the Inferno Fastpitch Softball organization. Last year, her 16U showcase team earned second place at the PONY Fastpitch Nationals in Sterling, Virginia. The past two years, she has also been a coach at the Fredonia Gym Rats Basketball Camp, where she helps teach young children fundamentals of the game.

Among Hannah’s top choices for college are the University of Rochester and SUNY Geneseo. She plans to major in biology and hopes to continue on to law school; there she plans to use her background in biology as a stepping stone to become an environmental lawyer.

CAITLYN CYBART

Caitlyn Cybart is the daughter of Joel and Traci Cybart and the twin sister of Hannah Cybart. She is currently a senior at Fredonia High School. Throughout high school, she has made the honor roll every quarter, has completed two AP courses and is in the process of completing four others and will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma. She is also currently ranked within the top five percent of her class.

Caitlyn has been a three sport athlete every year of high school. She played JV volleyball in 9th and 10th grade, as well as varsity volleyball in 11th and 12th grade and she has been a starter on the varsity girls basketball and softball teams since 9th grade. Last year, she received All-Star recognition for basketball. She also earned a place on the First All-Star team for softball and was named CCAA West I player of the year. This year, she was selected to the second All-Star team for volleyball.

Caitlyn participates in a variety of non-athletic extracurricular activities including Model United Nations, Interact Club and the school yearbook. As a member of Model UN, she has participated in delegations focusing on religious tolerance and undocumented global migration. As a member of Interact Club, formerly known as Key Club, she has participated in a variety of community service events including the Cold Turkey Run, the Special Olympics and the Russell Joy Park cleanup. As a member of the yearbook staff, she has written captions and informational paragraphs for the final manuscript. She has also joined the recently formed hiking club this year.

Outside of school, Caitlyn is a member of New York Inferno travel softball team. Last year, in the 16U showcase division, her team placed second at the PONY national tournament in Virginia. She also altar serves at Holy Trinity Parish in Dunkirk. During the summer, she works as a coach at the Gym Rats Youth Basketball Camp.

Caitlyn has not yet decided where she will attend college next year. Her top choices include Case Western Reserve University, SUNY Fredonia, SUNY Geneseo, University of Pennsylvania and the University of Rochester. She plans to major in biology and to enter medical school after she earns her bachelor’s degree.
