Laureate Alpha Pi provides quarterly news

WESTFIELD — The Oct. 17 meeting was held at the Westfield YWCA with Elna Meleen and Barb VanDyke serving the refreshments.

A thank you note was received from the nurses at the Westfield School for the donation for items needed for the younger students. The Chapter received a letter from International that Carol Reynolds is eligible for the Gold Circle Award for 50 years in Beta Sigma Phi and Carole Link is eligible for the master’s degree.

The sorority discussed plans to again pick up the ballots on Election Day, Nov. 8. Lynne Stetson, Amy Begier and Linda Bennett  headed up instructions for the election run.

Begier announced plans to give the Westfield Union Relief a donation from sorority to help them for the Christmas holiday.

The October social was held at Laura Ondreako’s home with Ondreako and Sylvia Colbey serving refreshments. Those present learned how to paint an autumn scene on a wine glass. The program of the evening was presented by Reynolds and Begier. Each member brought a picture of their best friend and how they related to their life.

The November meeting was held on Nov. 21 with Ondreako and Bobbiejo Soden serving refreshments.

A thank you was received from Anew for the sorority’s donation.

The program of the evening was Thanksgiving. Favorite Thanksgiving dishes and traditions were discussed. Word games were presented by Carol Brown and Meleen, with the winners receiving gifts.

The December social was held at the Westfield YWCA on Saturday, Dec. 10 with Begier, Link and Priscilla Malarkey in charge of the social. Husbands and children joined the fun and everyone had a great meal with Chef Bill Begier preparing the meat and everyone else providing a dish to pass. Santa arrived and presented everyone with a present. It was a great time.
