The Child Advocacy Program announces the appointment of Tim Smeal and Angelica Peck as new members of the board of directors. CAP board members serve three-year terms.

Smeal and Peck bring a dynamic mix of professional and personal expertise to CAP. Smeal is the director of development for Jamestown Community College, and has served as a volunteer at Infinity Performing Arts, Jamestown NOW, and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. He has experience in fundraising, event production, and marketing and public relations. Peck recently retired from Cummins Inc. Jamestown Engine Plant, and has served on the board of directors of the Reg Lenna Center for the Arts, Blackwell Baby Cafe, and the small grants committee at the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. She has an extensive background in grant writing and human resources.

Additionally, CAP board officers include President Anne Elizabeth Goldman, Vice President Karen Dolce, Treasurer John Felton, Secretary Mary Maisto, and members Regina Brackman, Kristan Garvey, Scott Franzen, LeeAnn Lazarony, Lewis Meckley and Edwin Rodriguez.

CAP also thanked outgoing board members Marcia Bliss and Robert Kocur for their years of service and dedication to CAP.

CAP Executive Director Jana McDermott attributes the success of CAP to “the dedication of the child abuse MDT and the board members who unwaveringly support the national Child Advocacy Center model that puts children first, and promotes a collaborative approach among partner agencies.”

CAP is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending child abuse in Chautauqua County. When abuse does occur, CAP coordinates a community response to bring healing, hope and justice to children and families. CAP is a United Way Agency. For more information about CAP, visit capjustice.org.
