Rails to Trails holding Spring Salute

Chautauqua Rails to Trails will be hosting a special event, “Spring Salute,” on Saturday, March 11 at 6 p.m. at Webb’s Captain’s Table in Mayville. Members of the public who are interested in supporting CR2T’s mission of maintaining and enhancing the nearly 30 miles of converted rail trails from Sherman to Mayville to Brocton are welcome. The group will be saluting the upcoming arrival of spring, Chautauqua Rails to Trails and CR2T’s founder, Dr. Robert Berke.

This event is not only a fundraiser, but also a reception for Berke, one of the founders, who recently retired after 25 years as president of CR2T. Attendees will enjoy music by Bill Ward, A Labor of Moles and Steel Rail; substantial appetizer stations; dessert, coffee and a cash bar. Several brief talks are planned by Dr. Berke, current CR2T President Jim Fincher and others. There will be basket raffles, a 50/50 raffle and door prizes. The evening will be both informal and informative.

Reservations can be made by sending a $35 check to CR2T’s secretary, Wendy Lewellen, 4456 Lakeside Drive, Bemus Point, NY 14712 by March 1.
