Chautauqua County Pomona Grange recognizes members’ efforts, sets coming events

FALCONER — Chaut-auqua County Pomona Grange 3 met at Ross Grange in Falconer on Feb. 25 for committees at 11 a.m., noon lunch and auction, with the meeting at 2 p.m. chaired by Master Lois Kesby. March membership reports will be sent to the State Grange soon.

Bob Goodwin welcomed everyone and Art Kinney thanked Ross for hosting. As chaplain, Kinney shared thoughts regarding three members who were recently called home by God: Jared Woolley, Jan. 28; Mary Carlberg, Feb. 20 and Ray Wiltsie, Feb. 1. They were all active in their communities and represent 176 years of life.

Lecturer Betty Wakefield shared a humorous program. Master Kesby conducted a Grange Quiz. Jr. Deputy Linda Kesby will take contest items to Cortland.

Public service participants include ladies in Ripley who created and serve a cat rescue mission, and a lady in Hamlet who creates many things for many people.

Rural Life Sunday program is available for hosting, contact Kinney if interested.

Fredonia Grange will do a third degree soon and host Contra Dancing on the first Friday night of the month. The annual banquet will be at Green Arch Restaurant, Route 20, Brocton on April 19. Call Tom Hebiesen for reservations at 792-9079.

The next Pomona meeting will be at Villenova on May 13. The picnic will be Aug. 13 at the Ted Carris residence in Ripley. The Chautauqua County Fair will be July 24 to 30; the Stockton Antique Equipment Show in August, and the Fredonia Farm Festival will be Aug. 25, 26 and 27.
