Brocton Central School Alumni Association planning reunion for July 8

BROCTON — The Brocton Central School Alumni Association is finalizing plans for the 10th annual BCS Alumni Reunion on July 8. The next meeting will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Green Arch Diner.

This popular event gives BCS alumni the opportunity to catch up with classmates and other alumni. Proceeds from the events provide BCS scholarships.

Three scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded to the Class of 2017. Those winners will be honored and invited to the July 8 alumni dinner with their families. Students in the Class of 2017 can apply for one of the three scholarships.

The guidance office will have all the information soon. It only takes an essay telling the committee what BCS has meant to them and a letter of recommendation from a member of the BCS faculty.

As always, the BCS alumni events kick off at 8 a.m. on July 8 with a shotgun start for the Alumni Golf Scramble held at PineHurst Golf Course. Scott Jagoda and Jon Espersen are the chairpeople for the golf scramble.

Tours of Brocton Central School will begin at 4:30 p.m. from the school flag pole. The evening festivities begin at the Brocton Legion with appetizers and social hour from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Chicken barbecue is served from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. A cash bar is available all evening with music, reminiscing and lots of fun!

Reservation forms for dinner and the golf scramble will be mailed soon or can be obtained on the website,, or contact Kathy Peters at 679-5814 or Mary Ellen Westin at 792-9472.

All current or retired BCS faculty and employees are welcome and encouraged to attend. Alumni often ask about former BCS staff and reminisce how so many of them impacted their lives. This is an opportunity for ALL of the BCS family to reunite!

Don’t forget the money raised funds the scholarships. The amount of money raised will determine how many scholarships can be given next year to the Class of 2018.

Help is needed at the Brocton Legion to set up in the dining room on Saturday and help in the kitchen with food preparations. Any help would be appreciated.

A Chinese auction will be held again this year with hopes of raising more scholarship money. Baskets or prize donations for the auction and golf prizes would be appreciated.

Anyone can also donate money toward scholarships, appetizers or prizes.

Donations can be sent to the BCS Alumni Association P.O. Box 195 Brocton, NY 14716. Please contact Kathy Peters, Alumni Association president, at 679-5814 or or Mary Ellen Westin at 792-9472 or for further information. Check on Facebook, as well.
