Genealogical Society meets today

The Chautauqua County Genealogical Society will meet today in the Steele Room at the Darwin R. Barker Library in Fredonia at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited. This will be an open forum meeting, question and answer session, and information will be available in the Garland Room genealogical research.

Dinner canceled for Wednesday

BROCTON — The spaghetti dinner scheduled for Wednesday at St. Dominic’s parish in Brocton has been canceled.

Lakeshore Humane Society holding Pet Adoption Day/Open House

The Lakeshore Humane Society will hold a Pet Adoption Day/Open House at its Adoption Center on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. The center is located at 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk. Come to see the facility, and meet some of the dogs and cats who need caring homes.

If unable to come to an Adoption Day, please call 672-1991 to arrange an appointment to see the dogs and cats awaiting adoption. (One must be 21 years of age or older to adopt a pet.)

Please also note that there is now a collection bin in the Adoption Center lobby for refundable bottles and cans.

Dayton Volunteer Fire Company chicken barbecue set for Sunday

DAYTON — The Dayton Volunteer Fire Company will hold a chicken barbecue on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to sold out at the Dayton Fire Hall, 9512 Route 62, Dayton. The cost is $10 for adults, or $6 for children under 12. The dinner consists of a half chicken, salt potatoes, macaroni salad, cole slaw, homemade desserts and drink when eating in. Take outs are available. To reserve, call 532-9098 before Sunday, or on the day of the event, call 532-2627 before 10 a.m.

Historical Society trustees to meet
