CCAEYC wraps up another successful celebration of the MOYC
The Chautauqua County Association for the Education of Young Children has officially wrapped up its series of Month of the Young Child activities and events for 2017.
Activities during the month included Library Story Hours across Chautauqua County. Special guest readers delighted young children with the book: “One Love — One Heart,” by Cedella Marley. This beautifully illustrated board book, based on the song by Bob Marley, celebrates the diversity and wonder of childhood. Each participating library was given its own copy of the book as a gift, as well as special MOYC bookmarks for each child, and copies of the familiar MOYC doll logo to decorate.
The M and M Club from NCCS, under the direction of Virginia Miller and Lucy Hurley, paraded to the United Way building in Dunkirk in May. (The original April date was postponed). The young students performed a variety of music and movement selections for invited guests and lucky passers-by. The special MOYC selections were chosen by members of the Club.
Events and activities of this year’s MOYC are set to be compiled into a special video presentation by Videographer Amber Rinehart. Photos and video clips from MOYC celebrations all over Chautauqua County will be set to the backdrop of the song: “One Love — One Heart,” as performed by the One World Chorus. This video will be shared with NAEYC, and may be posted on their website and social media.
The Month of the Young Child, celebrated annually in the month of April, is sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and its affiliates. Its purpose is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families, and to recognize the programs and services that work to meet those needs.
