SINCLAIRVILLE — The Sinclairville 76ers Meals on Wheels program for the Cassadaga Valley area received a grant from the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation at the Spring 2017 community grants awards in the Fredonia College Technology Incubator.

The Sinclairville 76ers group delivers meals to Villenova, Cherry Creek, Conewango Valley, Ellington, Cassadaga, Stockton, Bear Lake, Centralia, Sinclairville, and Gerry. There are three vans used on the three routes for the deliveries, and all deliveries are done by volunteers three days a week: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. One of the older vans of the organization is in need of replacement, and through dinners, fund raisers, and donations some of the cost was raised for the new van.

The Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation helped with the cause recently by donating $5000 towards the new van, which will be purchased soon. Richard Smith of Sinclairville is the president of the organization, which has been serving meals for 36 years now. John Sipos of Cassadaga is the vice president.

There is a meal served on the same days of the week in the Sinclairville Fire Hall dining room at noon.

Reservations are necessary to make certain enough food is prepared, by calling 962-3455 by 9 a.m. that morning. Elsie Livermore is the site manager.

The Sinclairville 76ers organization was organized in 1976 to create senior housing and five years later, the meals on wheels program was formed.

For more information on the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundations, contact program coordinator Eileen Dunn at 366-4892. The organization wants to help those organizations in need.
