Lakeshore Humane Society holds Pet Adoption Day/Open House

The Lakeshore Humane Society will hold a Pet Adoption Day/Open House at its Adoption Center on Saturday, Sept. 23 from noon to 4 p.m. The center is located at 431 E. Chestnut St., Dunkirk. Come to see the facility, and meet some of the dogs and cats who need caring homes.

If unable to come to an Adoption Day, call 672-1991 to arrange an appointment to see the dogs and cats awaiting adoption. (One must be 21 years of age or older to adopt a pet.)

There is a collection bin in the Adoption Center lobby for refundable bottles and cans.

43rd Annual Busti Apple Festival set for Sunday

The 43rd Annual Busti Apple Festival will take place Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Busti Grist Mill and Museum on Lawson Road in Jamestown. The festival features demonstrations of pioneer and 19th century life and survival skills, an arts and crafts show, farmers’ market, mill tours, and a Civil War reenactment. Food will also be available for purchase including over 600 famous pies, cider, and the authentically made apple butter. Admission is $5 per an adult and benefits the Busti Historical Society.
