Another year for Laona

The annual Halloween Parade and Party for Laona will take place on Saturday at 3 p.m. Participants should meet at the Laona Cemetery on the Webster Road side. The parade will go from the cemetery to the playground on Porter Avenue.

There will be games and the regular 50/50. A haunted witch’s house will be there as well. Please dress accordingly for the weather. There will be refreshments. The parade is open to all town of Pomfret residents.

Portland Congregational Church dinner rescheduled to Nov. 1

PORTLAND — There will be a Chicken and Biscuit Dinner at the Portland Congregational Church located at 8649 Church St. in Portland on Wednesday, Nov. 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. or sold out. Menu will be chicken and biscuits with gravy, mashed potatoes, vegetable, salad, dessert and beverage.

Takeouts available and the facility is handicap accessible. Adults $9, children 10 and under $6.
