Forestville Chapter 247 Order of the Eastern Star to hold memorial

FORESTVILLE — Forestville Chapter 247 Order of the Eastern Star met Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. with Matron Mary Prue and Patron John Olszewski presiding.

Several members recently returned from Grand Chapter OES in Binghamton, where state session was held. Installation included the following members of Chautauqua District: Most Worthy Grand Matron Lynne Schmitt; District Deputy Grand Matron Mary Prue; District Grand Lecturer John Olzewski; Grand Chaplain Robert Lewis; Associate Grand Marshal Linda Blodgett; Grand Adah Jeri Yauchzy; Grand Electa Mary Meyers; Linda Lewis and Donna Johnson, associate grand warders; Grand Sentinel Steve Schmitt; Grand Representative of Oregon Frances Stevens. Celebration will be held Saturday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. at First Covenant Church, 520 Spring St., Jamestown: a public homecoming for Georgann Bemis, grand representative of Kansas, and reception for the 2018 officers.

A towel party for the public will be held at Forestville Masonic Lodge, Main Street, Forestville on Friday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. (Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.) $5 admission includes entry and one board. Additional boards may be purchased. Large and small prizes will be available as well as refreshments. (Members will set up at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 26.)

Forestville Past Matrons will meet Tuesday, Oct. 24 at Linda Blodgett’s home, 249 King St., Dunkirk at 7 p.m.

A memorial for Mildred Jankowski will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Moose Club in Dunkirk.

The next regular meeting will be the election of officers Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m., with public installation Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m.
