Zumbathon raises funds for ALS research

Submitted Photo

On Sunday, Nov. 5, the Chautauqua County community teamed up for a Zumbathon fund-raiser at St. Hedwig’s social center in Dunkirk to help raise funds and find a cure for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. The theme for the Zumbathon was “Together we dance to find a cure for ALS.” The Zumbathon was in honor of Officer Matthew Hazelton and all those who are suffering or who have lost their battle to ALS. 100 percent of the proceeds goes to the research in finding a cure. Community members from across Chautauqua County traveled to participate in the event and raised more that $4,300. Four local Zumba instructors — Lisa Maslak, Janet Kozlowski, Sue Chaffee and Jayme Delcamp — led the three-hour event. A special thank you to Zumba instructor Jean Sutton, DJ Chris Rivera, photographer Ron Szot, Denise Zentz and all those who participated for making this event a great success.
