Dunkirk Fredonia Lions Club awards Lion of the Year

Lion Joann Ehrhardt was awarded 2017 Lion of the Year. The Lion of the Year Award is given to a recipient who has demonstrated the spirit, the ethics of “We Serve” in dealing with the club, other people and the community.

Lion Joann has been a member of the Dunkirk Fredonia Lions since 2015. She has been active with collecting for the White Cane Drive, Breakfast with Santa and Vision Screening.

She is married to Lance Ehrhardt. She has two children, one grandchild, two stepchildren and three step grandchildren. Five years ago, Joann and Lance moved to Fredonia from Buffalo.

Lion Joann was a school bus driver for 30 years. She said: “To watch the children on their first day of school and as the years fly by see them mature into young adults is a wonderful experience.”

She is a licensed charter boat captain for over 20 years, a member of the Eastern Lake Erie Charter Boat Association and helps with Kids Fishing Day (the essay contest for children) and volunteers for the program to buy lifetime licenses for fishing and hunting for some lucky children.
