S.O.A.R. holding Christmas gathering on Thursday

Local Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees, S.O.A.R., recently held its regular monthly meeting at the Steelworkers Union Hall on E. Fourth Street in Dunkirk.

The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a moment of silence for deceased members.

Secretary Theresa Bickhart read the minutes of the October meeting, followed by a treasurer’s report from Clarence Corbett.

President Jim Bickhart gave his report, announcing that the organization’s monthly stipend from the Steelworkers Union will be increased in December. He also stated that one more new member was added to the rolls.

Guest speaker was A.J. Dolce, who spoke about Medicare and supplemental insurance. A lengthy question and answer period followed.

A vote was taken, and it was unanimously approved to keep reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to open future meetings.

The next meeting will be a Christmas gathering on Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Kosciuszko Club, 252 Nevins St., Dunkirk. Members are encouraged to bring their wives or other guests.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:40 p.m.
