Northern Chautauqua Catholic School recently completed their celebration of Catholic Schools Week.

The celebration began with a Sunday Chili Cookoff/Pie Bakeoff Competition. Everyone voted on their favorite chili choice from among the two dozen entries and the judges had a challenge determining the top three winners from the excellent pies. More than 100 gift baskets were raffled off in this family-friendly kickoff to a week-long celebration.

Students began their school week by saying the Living Rosary all together in the gymnasium, and continued throughout the day showing school pride through upkeep and organizing activities. Pre-K through fourth grades prepared for Valentine’s Day by making cards for the local priests, NCCS faculty and their fellow students.

Tuesday was a “Family” themed day that brought families together sharing picnic lunches and enjoying the children’s amazing abilities in a Talent Show. Pre-K through second grades entertained showing their strength in Simon Says.

Wednesday the school enjoyed a comfortable Pajama Day, but still found a wonderful service opportunity. The children participated in a pillow-making event that memorialized deceased members of the Circle of Love. Pillows created by the children were donated to patients with cancer through the Circle of Love.

A day of learning about vocations followed the Thursday weekly Mass. Area religious spoke with the children and “thank you” cards were made for the generous NCCS Angels Campaign contributors.

School Spirit Day concluded the week with the children wearing their purple and gold best. They all took part in a fun-filled Garbage Ball Tournament.

Everyone is invited to the upcoming open house on Tuesday, Feb. 27, beginning at 6 p.m. Registration is currently under way for the 2018-2019 school year.

NCCS is a regional Catholic school including programs in pre-K 3 through grade eight. Come to the open house to find out more about the wonderful educational opportunity for your children, or call the office at 366-0630 and set up a tour.
