Girl Scout Troop 20158 cookie sales announced

Girl Scout Troop 20158 will be selling cookies at the following locations this weekend:

Friday, March 9 at the Kosciuszko Club, 252 Nevins St., Dunkirk from 5 to 9 p.m.

Friday, March 9 at Clarion Hotel & Conference Center Lobby, 30 Lake Shore Drive E., Dunkirk from 6 to 9 p.m.

Saturday, March 10 at Save-A-Lot, 166 E. Fourth St., Dunkirk from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Sunday, March 11 at Save-A-Lot, 166 E. Fourth St., Dunkirk from noon to 5 p.m.

Lakeshore Humane Society to hold ‘Picture Your Pet with the Easter Bunny’

The Lakeshore Humane Society’s “Picture Your Pet with the Easter Bunny” fundraiser will be held on Saturday, March 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lakeshore Humane Society Adoption Center, 431 E. Chestnut St. in Dunkirk. Pets, children, and families are welcome to have their photos taken with the Easter Bunny. All proceeds benefit the work of the LHS. $15 donation for one pose (digital copy sent to your email). Additional poses are $5 each. Payment is by cash or check.

Leprechaun party at Barker Library on Saturday

Darwin R. Barker Library presents a Leprechaun party on Saturday at 11 a.m., 7 Day St., Fredonia. Read leprechaun tales, watch a leprechaun film and plant a welcoming leprechaun garden. ‘Ask the Master Gardener’ program set for Saturday

SILVER CREEK — An “Ask the Master Gardener” program will be held Saturday, March 10 at 2 p.m. at the Silver Creek Senior Center, 1823 Lake Road. The event is open to everyone. Come with gardening questions. The program is presented by the Silver Creek Hanover Garden Club.

Fragile Earth Film Series Sunday

The Fragile Earth Film and Discussion Series sponsored by the Social Action Committee of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua in collaboration with the Fredonia Friends Meeting, will host a film “Before the Flood” and pizza lunch on Sunday, March 11. This event is free and open to the public and will take place at 12:30 p.m. at the Fredonia Grange Hall, located at 58 West Main St. in the Village of Fredonia.

This National Geographic documentary, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, looks at climate change as recorded over a three-year period of travel and investigation. DiCaprio states, “All that we witnessed on this journey shows us that our world’s climate is incredibly interconnected and that it is at an urgent breaking point.”

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua is a liberal religious community devoted to promoting individual spiritual development, working toward peace, liberty and justice in the immediate and global communities, and providing companionship on life’s sacred journey.
