On Saturday, July 28, the eighth-grade classmates from Holy Trinity School Class of 1972 reunited at the former Holy Trinity School on Central Avenue in the Msgr Bernardo Hall.

Special honored guest and fourth grade teacher Kathy Damiano attended the event. The informal gathering began at 5 p.m., followed by dinner as classmates/friends became reacquainted to share class photos, report cards and photo albums.

Damiano led the class in a prayer and offered a special blessing prior to dinner at 6 p.m. The evening was filled with many stories of “Remember when….?” and questions of “What ever happened to….?”

Special memories were shares of the nuns, teachers and especially Msgr. Valerio Bernardo, who was a driving force to build his own school, a Catholic education and his impact as he pushed for all students to obtain the best grades they could. The classmates received warm thoughts from their eighth grade teacher Jean Smith and St. Joseph Marie, who now live in New Jersey and could not attend. Later in the evening, the event continued at the Dockside Cafe & Bar at the Clarion Hotel.

Classmates are planning to reunite in four years for a 50th class reunion. Class members traveled from Nevada, Texas and throughout New York state to attend the gathering.
