September programming at Anderson-Lee Library

SILVER CREEK — Anderson-Lee Library, located at 43 Main St. in Silver Creek has announced its programming for the month of September. Most programs are free and open to the public. Registration is often required to ensure enough seating and materials for all patrons attending the program. For Adults

Basics of Home Brewing with Dunkirk Homebrew, Saturday Sept. 1 at 11 a.m. Learn the basics of making your own delicious drinks. Discover what you need to get started, how to brew and how to get the flavors you love. No alcohol will be served, but you must be 21 or older to attend this program. Registration is required and limited to 20 participants.

Friday Matinee, Friday, Sept. 7 at 12:30p.m. This matinee for adults 18 and older will offer a variety of movies, from documentaries to classics to new releases. Feel free to bring your lunch or a snack. This month we will watch the documentary “In Defense of Food.”

Paper Making, Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 6:30 p.m. Learn the basics of papermaking with instructor Tina T. Ames. Using recycled ingredients and flower petals, learn how to create beautiful sheets of paper. Make some in class and take some home, too. So easy and so much fun! For adults 18 and over, registration is required. There is a limit of 20 participants.

Kids Clubs

LEGO Club meets the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm. Kids age 5 to 12 are welcome to join on Sept. 4 for our monthly building challenge. Registration is appreciated.

Mine Craft Club meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. Kids age 6 to 15 are invited to join us on Sept. 11 as we cooperatively play, build, craft, explore and create! We’ll be focusing on survival mode and playing together on the library’s network. Registration is limited to 8 participants, so sign up soon!

Teen Book Talk meets the third Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. All teens age 13 to 17 are invited to bring a book they are reading or have read and share it with the group. Refreshments are provided. The club with meet Sept. 18 at 7 p.m.

Roblox Club meets on the third Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. Ages 5 and up are invited to come and join the fun of creating adventures, playing games, role playing and learning with friends on Sept. 20. Registration is limited to 8 participants, so sign up soon!

Tinker Tuesday meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. All ages are invited to tinker and build with a variety of materials. The next session is Tuesday, Sept. 25. Registration is appreciated.

Pre School and School Age Storytime

Pre-school Storytime for children ages 2 to 5 on Thursday mornings Sept. 20 and 27 at 10:30 a.m. Children will participate in reading, singing, rhymes and fun crafts. Children under 3¢ will need a parent/caregiver present.

Storytime for School Age Children on Thursday mornings September 20 and 27 at 10:30 am. Miss Amy will organize a variety of activities for children ages 6-10. Expect stories, crafts, LEGOs, games, and more!

Special Events:

Intro to Blender Basics. Patrons age 10 and up are invited to come and learn the basics behind this free and powerful software. Start creating 3D models for games, 3D printing, artwork and more! This program will be held Thursday, Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m. Registration is required and is limited to 10 people.

Saturday Matinee, Saturday, Sept. 8 at 11 a.m. For families of all ages, this matinee will offer new releases, old favorites, and seasonal fun! Bring a bag lunch or a snack to enjoy while you are watching “Despicable Me 3” this month.

Hobbit Day Saturday, Sept. 22 at 11 a.m. All ages are invited to a party devoted to all things Hobbit! If you wish, come dressed as a Hobbit and celebrate Bilbo and Frodo Baggins birthdays! Have some tea and Lembas Bread (second breakfast anyone?), play games, and make a craft. Fun for the whole family! Registration is required.

Friends of Anderson-Lee Library Used Book Sale will be held Thursday, Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 14 from 12 to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a bag sale starting at noon. Pre-Sale night for members only will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 12 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Memberships may be purchased at the door to enter the sale and start at $10 for a single membership.
