Silver Creek’s Anderson-Lee Library announces December programs

Anderson-Lee Library, located at 43 Main St. in Silver Creek, has announced its programming for the month of December. Most programs are free and open to the public. Registration is often required to ensure enough seating and materials for all patrons attending the program. To register for programs, call the library at 934-3468, stop by 43 Main St., message on Facebook, or visit www.andersonleelibrary.com and click on the events tab for easy online registration. It’s also possible to sign up for email/text reminders when registering online!

Pre School and School Age Storytime

Pre-school Storytime for children ages 2 to 5 on Thursday mornings, Dec. 6 and 13 at 10:30 a.m. Children will participate in reading, singing, rhymes and fun crafts. Children under 3 ¢ will need a parent/caregiver present.

Storytime for School Age Children on Thursday mornings, Dec. 6 and 13 at 10:30 a.m. Miss Amy will organize a variety of activities for children ages 6 to 10. Expect stories, crafts, Legos, games, and more!

All Ages Storytime, Thursday, Dec. 20 at 10:30 a.m. Combined story time for the above groups with Miss Jill. Come prepared for seasonal stories and crafts.

For Adults:

Introduction to Holistic Herbalism, Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. Join local Herbalist Sarah Sorci as she shares information about the importance of holistic and local herbal medicine. Sample herbal concoctions and receive recipes to try at home with ingredients people probably have in their pantries! For ages 16 and older. Registration required.

Friday Matinee, Friday, Dec. 7 at 12:30 p.m. This matinee for adults 18 and older will offer a variety of movies, from documentaries to classics to new releases. Feel free to bring lunch or a snack. This month, watch “The Man Who Invented Christmas.”

Cookie Swap, Monday, Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. Join in for the second annual cookie swap! Bring one kind of cookie and take home an assortment of delicious cookies for the holidays. Participation is limited to 10 people. Adults only. Beverages and goodies will be served.

The History and Current State of the Seneca Language, Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. Whitney Nephew, Cayuga descendent and third year apprentice in the Seneca Nation’s Language Immersion Program will present a program on the Seneca Language. Learn more about the language, the efforts being taken to revive it and maybe even learn a few phrases!

Fun for all ages:

Saturday Matinee, Saturday, Dec. 8 at 11 a.m. For families of all ages, this matinee will offer new releases, old favorites, and seasonal fun! Bring a bag lunch or a snack to enjoy while watching “The Magic Snowflake” this month.

Make Your Own Gingerbread House, Saturday, Dec. 15 at 11 a.m. All ages are invited to come and make a small gingerbread house out of graham crackers. All materials provided. Space is limited. Register by Thursday, Dec. 13 at noon.

Wrapping Party, Tuesday, Dec. 18 from 6 to 7:30. All ages are invited to drop by and use the wrapping station for their holiday gifts. Wrapping paper, ribbons, bows and other small items will be available to make beautifully wrapped gifts! All materials provided, drop by anytime between 6 and 7:30 p.m. Enjoy some cookies and hot beverages, too!

Kids Clubs:

LEGO Club meets the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. Kids age 5 to 12 are welcome to join in on Dec. 4 for the monthly building challenge. Registration is appreciated.

Minecraft Club meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. (note time change for this month) Kids age 6 to 15 are invited to join in on Dec. 11 to cooperatively play, build, craft, explore and create! The Club will be focusing on survival mode and playing together on the library’s network. Registration is limited to 8 participants, so sign up soon!

Teen Book Talk meets the third Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. All teens age 13 to 17 are invited to bring a book they are reading or have read and share it with the group. Refreshments are provided. In December, the club with meet on Dec. 18.

Roblox Club meets on the third Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. Ages 5 and up are invited to come and join the fun of creating adventures, playing games, role playing and learning with friends on Dec. 20. Registration is limited to 8 participants, so sign up soon!
