National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution — Benjamin Prescott Chapter

WESTFIELD — A regular business meeting of the Benjamin Prescott Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution was held at the Patterson Library in Westfield on March 7 with 13 DAR members present. The meeting was called to order at 12:58 p.m. with the opening ritual performed by Regent Brenda Johnson. The DAR President’s Message was read by Lisa Sedlmayer about Women’s sufferage. Myra Johnston read the National Defense article about nurses and their contributions during the wars.

Recognitions: Welcome all after our short winter vacation.

Old Business: Work continues on our 120th Anniversary Celebration at Chautauqua. We are getting ready.

New Business: Brenda Johnson and Keri Wendell were chosen as voters and Julina Harris and Carol Abell were chosen as alternate voters for the 2019 Washington Conference in June.

Yearbooks have been emailed.

Our Nominating Committee, Bonnie Larkin, Lisa Sedlmayer, Carol Abell, Barbara Pietro and Linda Kuzara have filled a ballot of prospective officers to be presented at the April 2019 meeting for a vote. We need our slate of officers set by April 15, 2019. The slate consists of; Brenda Johnson-Regent, Bonnie Larkin-Treasurer, Barbara Pietro-Registar, Lisa Sedlmayer-Chaplin. And nominated from the floor; Linda Kuzara-Secretary, Myra Johnston-Historian, Vice Regent-Roxanne Wood.

News: March 14 Mary Cardinale was scheduled to speak at the Turner Community Center about DAR Activism.

March 23 the Blue Star Mothers were scheduled to send boxes to deployed soldiers.

The Buffalo VA is requesting $5 gift cards from Tops, Wegmans or Walmart.

May 11, 2019 is our District VIII Meeting.
