Country music star Phil Vassar to headline N. Collins’ Down-Home Country Weekend
NORTH COLLINS — Get ready for some country music and engine pulling this weekend.
The Langford-New Oregon Fire Co. Down-Home Country Weekend takes place Aug. 5-6.
Saturday’s headliner will be national recording artist Phil Vassar. His many songs include “Charlene,” “Just Another Day in Paradise,” “Six-Pack Summer,” “American Child” and many others.
Gates on Saturday will open at 3 p.m. with the day’s entertainment beginning at 4 p.m. Barnstorm will play until the 7:30 p.m. concert. After the Phil Vassar concert, Weste of the Mark will play until the 11 p.m. closing. Clay Moden from WYRK will emcee the program.
Cost is $20 for adults and children 13 and over. No charge for children 12 and under.
Sunday is the Western New York Championship Truck and Tractor Pull. There will be 10 action-packed classes. Gates open at 11 a.m. and pulling starts at noon and will last until well after dark.
This year, for the first time, the National Tractor Pullers Association with three classes of Grand National Pullers, Four-Wheel Drive trucks, Modified Minis and Light Super Stock Tractors will compete at noon and at 6 p.m.
The Empire State Pullers will take over the track at 3 p.m. pulling Super Farm, Modifieds and Heavy Super Stock Tractors.
The Limited Light Super Stock National Tour hosted by the WNY Pro Pulling Series competes around 9 p.m.
Sunday’s admission is $20 with children ages 12 and under free.
