‘Mix & Match’ season ticket packages on sale now at Fredonia
Customizable season ticket packages are now on sale for an eclectic offering of events in the 2017-18 Lake Shore Savings Season at the State University of New York at Fredonia.
A “Mix & Match Season Ticket” package gives buyers the opportunity to save between 15 and 25 percent on tickets to events offered by Rockefeller Arts Center, the Department of Theatre and Dance, the Fredonia School of Music and the Western New York Chamber Orchestra. There are 18 eligible events to choose from this season.
“Mix & Match Season Tickets” allow buyers to create their own unique packages from the 18 events. The “3 and Up Plan,” offers savings of up to 15 percent on tickets for any three, four or five events and the “6 and Up Plan” offers savings of up to 25 percent on tickets to any six or more events.
For convenience, offerings are grouped by genre as listed below.
The upcoming season includes three offerings in the long-running DFT Pops Communications Series: “You’ve Got a Friend — The Music of Carole King & James Taylor” on Sept. 21, “A Rockapella Christmas” on Dec. 10, and “Commencement Eve Pops on Broadway: Music from Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables & More” on May 18.
Rockefeller’s Kaleidoscope Family Series also returns with DuffleBag Theatre “The Night Before Christmas” on Dec. 1 and “Smirk! Jokesters of Juggling and Kings of Chaos” on Feb. 9.
In addition, the Walter Gloor Mainstage Series features five Department of Theatre and Dance productions: “Peter and The Star Catcher” from Oct. 20 to 28, Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” from Nov. 30 to Dec. 3, “Daisy Pulls It Off” from Feb. 23 to March 3, “Spring Awakening” from April 6 to 14 and Fredonia Dance Ensemble from May 4 to 6.
The Western New York Chamber Orchestra has three events (“Musical Portraits” on Sept. 17, “Mr. Tambourine Man” on Feb. 11 and “Musical World of Haydn” on April 15) while the Hillman Opera celebrates its 60th anniversary with a special concert on Oct. 20. This one-night only event features selections of well-known operas, sung by a number of Fredonia graduates who have performed with opera companies all over the world.
New this season, Rockefeller Arts Center presents a night of improv comedy with “The Second City Touring Company: Cure for the Common Comedy” on Oct. 27 and then partners with the School of Music for the unique experience of SHUFFLE Concert on Oct. 28. Both events are part of Family Weekend at Fredonia.
Also eligible for the season ticket plan are two special School of Music events: the Eighth Annual Intercollegiate Choral Festival on Feb. 24 and the Fredonia Symphony with Zuill Bailey, an internationally acclaimed cellist, on March 24.
