St. John’s United Church of Christ

St. John’s United Church of Christ, 733 Central Ave., Dunkirk, will hold a ham and scalloped potatoes dinner today, serving from 4:30 to 6 p.m., at 733 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Parking is off Eagle Street. Call 366-0710 for reservations. Tickets will also be available at the door, and takeouts will be available.

Church of the Living Spirit

On Sunday, Lucinda Wilson will speak at the Church of the Living Spirit. Services, beginning at 10:30 a.m. and lasting about an hour and a half, consist of a lecture, a healing service and a message service. The public is welcome and there is no gate fee for the service.

Thanksgiving Community Service

The entire Dunkirk and Fredonia community is invited to a Thanksgiving Community Service on Tuesday. The service will be held at 7 p.m. at St. John the Baptist (Episcopal) Church.

Realizing the excessive time demands placed on families at this holiday season, the clergy have selected Tuesday as the day to worship in Thanksgiving for our many gifts.

Gifts of non-perishable food items will be received for the Chautauqua County Rural Ministry. As well, the monetary offering will be designated to the Chautauqua Rural Ministry.

Participating are Dunkirk First United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church of Fredonia, Fredonia United Presbyterian Church, Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. John the Baptist (Episcopal) Church and St. John’s United Church of Christ.

St. John’s is located at the corner of West Fourth and Lark streets in Dunkirk.

All are invited.

Blessed Mary Angela Holy Rosary Society

The Blessed Mary Angela Holy Rosary Society met recently at St. Hyacinth’s Lyceum.

Carole Schiller greeted the members. She and other officers led members saying the Rosary and prayers for ill and deceased members.

Kathy Hamernik read the opening prayer for the meeting. She volunteered to be secretary in Martha Bialaszewski’s place.

Vice President Rita Cieslewicz and Treasurer Sandra Tapasto gave October’s reports. They were accepted by all.

The attendance prize was won by Elvina Root.

All were thanked for refreshments for the living Rosary and pantry shower offerings to Felician nuns.

The November committee was Hamernik, Pat Kokocinski and Sophia Kubasik.

The next meeting will be the Christmas party at the Kosciuszko Club at 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5. The officers are on the committee with Marilyn Nalepa and Hamernik.
