Second Marsh Memorial Advent Recital planned for Dec. 14
The First United Presbyterian Church of Dunkirk will present the second in a series of three weekly Marsh Memorial Advent Recitals for 2016. On Wednesday, Dec. 14 at noon in the church sanctuary, Sean Duggan, David Rose, and Brian Walnicki will perform.
Father Sean Duggan, OSB, pianist, is a monk of St. Joseph Abbey in Covington, Louisiana. He obtained his music degrees from Loyola University in New Orleans and Carnegie Mellon University, and received a Master’s degree in theology from Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans.
David Rose was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and there began his early musical education in violin study. He switched to the viola at the age of twelve and a few years later he became a member of the Regina Symphony Orchestra. Playing with many ensembles and orchestras, he graduated with position of associate principal viola of the Vancouver Symphony.
Brian Walnicki holds degrees in performance from The Eastman School of Music and from S.U.N.Y. Fredonia School of Music. He is currently principal viola for the Western New York Chamber Orchestra.
The Marsh Memorial Advent Recital Series is presented as a traditional program begun in 1978, under the direction of First United Presbyterian Church of Dunkirk’s Organist and Musical Director Howard Marsh.
This free musical program is designed to provide members of the church community and the general public with an opportunity for a period of peaceful reflection and contemplation during the hour at mid-week, throughout the Advent season.
