Trinity Episcopal Church

Sunday, Jan. 29 will be the annual Epiphany Tea at Trinity Episcopal Church at 2 p.m. in Garland Hall behind the church, 11 Day St., Fredonia.

The season of Epiphany begins on Jan. 6 with the arrival of the three kings and continues, in the Episcopal church, until Ash Wednesday.

During those weeks it is traditional to have an Epiphany Tea with a traditional cake. The cake is baked with a small ring — tradition says that whoever gets the piece of cake with the ring in it has the responsibility of baking the cake the following year. Being the baker of this cake has always been a special honor and in years past, was a way to show one’s baking talent. This year’s cake is being baked by Emily Ivey. Other treats are served as well, along with tea/coffee and punch. What makes this tea different from others is that preceding the tea is a short presentation by an invited speaker. This year, David and Lucy Bryant have agreed to share the trip to Cuba that they made this past fall. This event is open to anyone who wishes to attend the program for the speaker. All are encouraged to stay for the tea.
