Motivational presentation series begins Feb. 21
JAMESTOWN — Lutheran’s award-winning Best of Times Seminar Series, sponsored by Edgewood Communities, returns in February with “Your Best Interest at Heart,” a motivational presentation on how to stay in love with your healthy New Year’s resolutions. Attendees will learn how to stay active and motivated, make sound nutritional decisions, set goals, work through health-related roadblocks, and avoid or manage diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and more.
“Your Best Interest at Heart” takes place Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 6:30 p.m. inside the Lutheran Chapel at 715 Falconer St. in Jamestown. The event is free and open to the public but RSVP is required.
“We wanted to kick off the New Year by focusing on something everyone begins to struggle with in February and March – honoring New Year’s resolutions,” said Edwin Rodriguez Jr., director of public relations and marketing for Lutheran. “Also, February is Heart Month so part of the discussion will focus on heart-healthy resolutions surrounding nutrition, stress, and more,” he said. Studies show that 40 percent of Americans make a New Year’s resolution but only 9 percent of those individuals feel that they find success in their promises.
Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator Jackie Carlson has more than 25 years of experience with helping people embrace new, healthy-living behaviors. Carlson will be the featured presenter for the event.
“Support, accountability, and documentation are really important when it comes to changing behaviors,” said Carlson. “At my seminar, we’re going to talk about steps each individual can take to set goals and stay focused on them. These tips can fit any area of life an attendee feels they could benefit from making a change and sticking with it.”
