Church of the Living Spirit

On Sunday, Gail Heil will speak at the Church of the Living Spirit. Services, beginning at 10:30 a.m. and lasting about an hour and a half, consist of a lecture, a healing service and a message service. The public is welcome and there is no gate fee for the service.

Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua County

Consulting Minister George Buchanan will speak on Sunday at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua County services. Buchanan’s sermon, “Be Here Now” will consider this advice from spiritual teacher Ram Dass and whether such an approach is suitable or even possible for lives today. All are invited to attend this service.

Childcare for those under the age of 5 will be provided as requested. Call the church’s voicemail, 679-7944, by Saturday at 5 p.m. if childcare will be needed.

Blessed Mary Angela Rosary Society

Blessed Mary Angela Rosary Society meeting was recently held on Feb. 6 at the Lakeside site lyceum. President Carole Schiller greeted members and with other officers, recited the Rosary. The opening prayer was offered by Marilyn Nalepa.

President Schiller thanked all members who had contributed to the Christmas gathering and those who continue to attend and offer the Rosary at funerals.

Treasurer Sandra Tapasto gave a financial report for the months of November, December and January.

Vice President Rita Cieslewicz reported that poinsettias had been delivered on behalf of the Rosary Society to a number of shut-in members over the Christmas holiday. Ill and deceased members were remembered and correspondence was read.

Recent birthdays were recognized for Geraldine Szukala (Jan. 10) and Tapasto (Jan. 5).

A motion was made and passed to have a lottery/raffle fund-raiser for the month of May.

Although an election of officers was planned for this meeting, the required quorum was not in attendance to do so and the election was postponed until an adequate number of members are present.

A closing prayer was offered by Szukala.

The attendance prize for the month was awarded to Joyce Tarnowski.Refreshments and raffle prizes were offered by Schiller, Cieslewicz and Tapasto. Lucille Tarnowski assisted in serving.

The next scheduled meeting will be on March 6 at 7 p.m. at the Hillside site social center of Blessed Mary Angela. The refreshment committee for the March meeting includes Stella Michalak, Nalepa, Alvina Monahan and Phyllis Mucha.

Ripley United Methodist Church

RIPLEY — Ripley United Methodist Church will hold an All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast today from 7:30 to 11 a.m. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, bacon, made-to-order eggs and omelets, home fries, biscuits and sausage gravy, orange juice and coffee at a cost of $7 for all you can eat.

This month’s breakfast will benefit Outreach Ministries.

St. John’s United Church of Christ

St. John’s United Church of Christ will hold a pork loin dinner on Saturday, Feb. 18. Serving will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at 733 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Parking is off Eagle Street. Call 366-0710 for reservations. Pre-sale tickets are $8.50, or tickets at the door, $9. Takeouts are available. Unpaid pre-sale and reserved tickets must be picked up by 5:30 the day of the dinner.

Cherry Creek/Leon United Methodist Church

The Cherry Creek/Leon United Methodist Church, 6813 Main St., Cherry Creek will have a Scoop Dinner and Wrapped Gift Auction on Saturday, Feb. 18 with dinner starting at 4:30 p.m.and auction at 6 p.m. There will be $50 hidden in one of the gifts. Conewango Valley United Methodist Church

The Conewango Valley United Methodist Church, 5517 Church St., Conewango Valley, will present a free Saturday movie matinee on Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. The film “The Secret Life of Pets” will be featured. Children of all ages are welcome.

Blessed Mary Angela Youth Group

On Saturday, Feb. 18 from 4 to 6 p.m., the Blessed Mary Angela Youth Group will hold a spaghetti dinner at St. Hedwig’s Social Center, 324 Townsend St., Dunkirk. The cost is $10 per person. The menu includes spaghetti, meatball, salad, roll, dessert and drink. Raffle baskets will be available.

On Sunday, Feb. 26 from 7 to 11 a.m., the Blessed Mary Angela Youth Group will hold a pancake breakfast at St. Hyacinth Lyceum, 15. N Pangolin St., Dunkirk. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, eggs, fruit and drink at a price of $10.

Proceeds for both events benefit the Youth Group convention, and can be purchased at Big Rick’s One Stop, 327 Lake Shore Drive E., Dunkirk.
