Church of the Living Spirit

On Sunday, Kathleen Salyers will speak at the Church of the Living Spirit. Services, beginning at 10:30 a.m. and lasting about an hour and a half, consist of a lecture, a healing service and a message service. The public is welcome and there is no gate fee for the service.

Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua announces that Consulting Minister George Buchanan will speak about “Creative Interchange” on Sunday. The process of continual creation is at the heart of all our lives. We are creating relationships and imagination, and so much more. And we are shaped in turn by the process of creation. During this service, we will reflect on this amazing process of creative interchange as we worship together.

Childcare for those under the age of 5 will be provided as requested. Call the church’s voicemail by Saturday at 5 p.m. if childcare will be needed.

St. Joseph’s Church Gowanda

St. Joseph’s Church, 71 E. Main St., Gowanda will hold its annual indoor yard and plant sale as well as a Krolick’s chicken barbecue. The yard sale will take place on Friday, May 19 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Saturday, May 20 from 8 a.m. to noon, with a bag sale (plants not included) from noon to 2 p.m. The chicken barbecue will be held from 11:30 a.m. until sold out on Saturday. The barbecue is take-out only (drive through is available). The cost is $11 per dinner.

These events take place in conjunction with Rediscover Gowanda.

St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church

A Taste of the South Southern Barbeque will be held on Friday, May 19, at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, 16 W. Fourth St., Dunkirk from 5 to 7 p.m. The costs are $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. For tickets, call Laurie at 785-7900. The event is sponsored by the Juneteenth Celebration 2017 Committee.

Sheridan United Methodist Church

Sheridan United Methodist Church will be honoring the life of Cecelia Pagano-Petrella on Sunday, May 21 at the 10:30 a.m. service. All are urged to wear something purple, as it was her favorite color. Also, please wear a hat if possible, as she loved hats. There will be a brief account of her wonderful life with a coffee hour to follow.

Ellington Community Church

A Gospel concert featuring Maurice Brown and The Mountain Railroad Band will be presented Sunday, May 21 at 3 p.m. at the Ellington Community Church, 5009 Thornton Road, Ellington.

There is no admission charge, but a free will offering will be taken. Refreshments will be served following the concert.

Holy Trinity Church

A Healing Mass will take place at Holy Trinity Church, 1032 Central Ave., Dunkirk on Wednesday, May 31 at 7 p.m. The main celebrant will be the Reverend Richard DiGiulio. Everyone is welcome.
