BMA Rosary Society meets

The Blessed Mary Angela Rosary Society recently held its February monthly meeting at the Lakeside site Lyceum.

An opening prayer was offered by Sandra Tapasto.

Rosary Society President Carole Schiller led members in a recitation of the Holy Rosary and prayers were offered for sick and deceased members. Schiller, who is recuperating from recent medical issues, thanked all who have sent their well wishes as she regains her health. Members were encouraged to visit and send cards to others who are sick and infirm. Schiller also thanked all members who took part in making the December Christmas dinner party a great success.

Society Secretary Katherine Hamernik reviewed the meeting minutes from the last regular meeting held on Nov. 6.

Society Treasurer Sandra Tapasto reviewed the financial report for the Society.

Vice President Rita Cieslewicz let members know that she had delivered poinsettias from the Society to housebound members at Christmas. Cieslewicz discussed plans for the upcoming summer church festivals. There will be two events this year, held in June and August at the Hillside site social hall. Discussion was had regarding how the Rosary Society might help with these major fundraisers. Cieslewicz also reminded members of the 2018 Catholic Charities Campaign which is soon to commence. Cieslewicz also reminded members that the church’s ziti dinner fund-raiser will be held on Feb. 13 at the Hillside site social hall, the proceeds of which are earmarked to assist religious education students attending the annual youth conference in Buffalo. Members were encouraged to support this fundraiser. Tickets are still available.

January birthdays were remembered for members Sandra Tapasto, Dorothy Kornacki and Irene Rozumalski. The attendance prize was won by Tapasto.

As the meeting ended Phyllis Mucha offered a closing prayer and members shared refreshments and raffle prizes supplied by Tapasto, Schiller and Cieslewicz.

The next Holy Rosary Society meeting will be held on Monday, March 5 at 7 p.m. at the Blessed Mary Angela Hillside site social hall.
