“A Celebration of the Angels,” NCCS Benefactors Mass

“A Celebration of the Angels,” a very special Mass to honor Northern Chautauqua Catholic School Angel Benefactors will be held on Sunday, Aug. 5 at 7 p.m. at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church at 1032 Central Ave. in Dunkirk.

Church of the Living Spirit

This week’s speaker is Terry Mayer. This week’s medium is Rev. Joyce Barlow. Church services are held every Sunday in the Assembly Hall on Cleveland Avenue in Lily Dale.

Service time is 10:30 a.m. to noon and consists of a spiritual talk, a hands-on healing, a message demonstration, music, meditation and prayer.

Ripley United Methodist Summer Vacation Bible School

The Ripley United Methodist Summer Vacation Bible School theme this year is “Weird Animals.”

Classes will take place on Mondays, Aug. 6, 13, 20 and 27 at the Ripley United Methodist Church, 84 W. Main St. Ripley from 4 to 6 p.m.

South Dayton Free Methodist Church plans “Sidewalk Gang” Vacation Bible School

The South Dayton Free Methodist Church, 327 Pine St., South Dayton, will hold “Sidewalk Gang” Vacation Bible School every Friday through Aug. 24 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Featured activities include Bible stories, music, crafts, games, and lots of fun and fellowship for the children. Lunch will be provided each day. Family and friends are invited to the special closing program on Aug. 24.

Vacation Bible School will be held at Laona U.M. Church

He’s Our Rescuer!! Vacation Bible School will be held at Laona U.M. Church located at the corner of Wilson Road and Porter Avenue, Fredonia on Aug. 6 to 10 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. each evening.

Children ages 3 years through 6th grade are invited to come and learn about the ways that God rescues His children. Each night will include songs, games, crafts, snacks and a story from the Bible showing the wonder of God’s amazing love. Altar and Rosary Society of St. Joseph Church in Fredonia card party Aug. 8

The Altar and Rosary Society of St. Joseph Church in Fredonia will be hosting its monthly Dessert Card Party on Wednesday, Aug 8. The card party takes place in the Gathering Room of St. Joseph Church. Admission is $4. Coffee, dessert, table and door prizes are provided.

St. Paul Lutheran Church annual chicken barbecue set for Aug. 10

St. Paul Lutheran Church, 334 Temple St., Fredonia, will hold its annual chicken barbecue on Friday, Aug. 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. Pre-sale tickets are guaranteed until 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 per dinner. Dining options include eat in or take out.

Trinity United Church of Christ community meal planned for Aug. 11

Trinity United Church of Christ will host a community meal on Saturday, Aug. 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. at 30 Erie Ave., Gowanda. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. There is no charge. The meal offers all you can eat in-house of a homemade meal. This month’s menu includes pork and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, beets, applesauce, dessert and beverage. There is handicapped access on Erie Avenue. Free will donations are not necessary, but are appreciated. All are welcome. The next meal is Sept. 11.

Ripley United Methodist Church breakfast Aug. 11

Ripley United Methodist Church is holding an All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast on Saturday, Aug. 11 from 7:30 to 11 a.m. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, bacon, made-to-order eggs and toast (including omelets), fried potatoes, biscuits and sausage gravy, orange juice and coffee. The cost is $7 for “all you can eat.”

This month’s breakfast will benefit the East Ripley Cemetery Association.

Annual Church Picnic

The Portland Congregational Church annual picnic will be Sunday, Aug. 12 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a potluck lunch, so bring a dish to pass. No desserts are needed. Enjoy fun and fellowship with everyone. There will be lots of activities including water slide, bounce house, egg race, apple bobbing, target golf, pie eating contest, water balloon wars, face painting and much more. Prizes will be given all day. The location is 8649 Church St., Portland.
