Once again, the SUNY Fredonia students came through to help the Feeding Fredonia Challenge.

On Oct. 19, the SUNY Fredonia Office of Volunteer and Community Services, under the leadership of Joyce Smith, arranged to have SUNY students at the Fredonia Central School to pick up the generous donation of food organized by the Fredonia Central School.

The college students who picked up the food, weighed it and loaded it into the truck, were members of the APO service fraternity and Kappa Sigma: Emily Staniszewski and Kiersten Vetter of APO and David Gonzalez, Benjamin McKelvey and Dionysis Bouziotis (all of Kappa Sigma). In addition to this effort, other SUNY Fredonia students helped gather the food donated on the SUNY campus itself. These students were: Mary DiCioccio, Hayley Joyce, Jad Shehabaldin, and Jason Marin (the Volunteer and Community Services Office Intern). Joyce Smith coordinated the campus effort as well.

The SUNY campus donated 34 percent more food this year to the challenge. Fredonia Presbyterian Church, which coordinates the Feeding Fredonia Challenge, is very grateful to SUNY Fredonia, Joyce Smith, and the students for their important contribution to the Challenge.
