First Baptist Church – Dunkirk invites community to the ‘God with us’ Advent Series

Submitted Photo ‘God with us’ Advent Series runs for four weeks.

Everyone in the community is invited to attend First Baptist Church – Dunkirk for a four-week series based on the Advent themes of Hope, Love, Joy and Peace called God With Us, at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings starting Dec. 2.

A remarkable thing happened that first Christmas, just as Isaiah had prophesied 700 years earlier — Jesus was born as Immanuel — which means “God with us!” First Baptist Church – Dunkirk believes Christmas can still truly give us a taste of the most wonderful time of world history. The true light came into the darkness and stress and pain of the world — our world. Miraculously, we continue in God’s story of love everyday as he promises to be with us always.

“God’s amazing plan of redemption was revealed in a humble manger, as Jesus Christ the Son of God came to dwell with us. I hope you will come to hear and understand how this changes everything,” said Pastor Mark Massaro.

In a season often marked by frenzied busyness, Advent is an opportunity to set aside time to prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ. The relevant messages in this series are designed to help us place our focus on the greatest gift ever given — and to experience his presence in our lives today.

With cookies and cocoa after the services, special music, lighting of the Advent wreath, and a free God With Us devotional book for visitors, this series is the perfect opportunity for families throughout the community to come together to celebrate this special season. The community is also invited to attend a special candlelit Christmas Eve service on Dec. 24 at 5 p.m.

First Baptist Church – Dunkirk is an independent Baptist church located at 876 Central Ave. in Dunkirk. For more information, visit or call 366-0063.
