Silver Creek Seniors

On Tuesday, Feb 21, the Silver Creek Seniors started the day reciting the Pledge of Allegiance followed by singing “God Bless America.” Before pizza was served, Chaplain Dorothy Miniri said the blessing.

In July of last summer, Savannah Karcz, a senior at Silver Creek High School, was the youngest person in a missionary group to go on a 10-day trip to Chennai, India. Karcz joined the meeting and presented a slide show about her experience on this Mission Trip to India. Karcz was dressed in her Indian clothes and answered many questions that the seniors had. Thanks to Bob Sutehall for arranging the telling of this very interesting experience by Karcz.

Lorraine Bailey, Sue Shiloh and Ernie Hilliker won the 50/50 drawings. Door prizes went to Conrad Pawlak and Lorrie Newman. Miniri won a box of chocolates and passed them around for everyone to enjoy.

Ed Newman called bingo. Winners were Shirley Sikorski, Ellyn Sutehall and Eleanor Lemiszko. There were only three bingo winners because Sutehall won three games.

Joining the meeting was Kim Adams. It’s always a pleasure to have Adams at the meetings. At next week’s meeting, Bailey will be jogging everyone’s memory with some songs from the past, so put your thinking caps on.

With more cold weather on the way, there will be a variety of soups for next week’s luncheon.

The weekly meeting closed with singing “Young At Heart.” The Silver Creek Seniors invite all seniors to attend the next weekly meeting on Feb. 28.

It will include a tour of the University of Notre Dame; a guided city tour including Grant Park and Navy Pier; an architectural cruise along the Chicago River to visit the Biograph Theater, the Holy Name Cathedral, the Shedd Aquarium, the Field Museum, dinner theater at Tommy Gunn’s Dinner Theater, and much more.
