Silver Creek Seniors
On the last meeting of the month of February, President Ed Newman brought the meeting to order with the Pledge Of Allegiance and singing “God Bless America.”
After Chaplain Dorothy Miniri said the blessing, everyone sat down to enjoy several different soups, bread and butter, cookies, cake and beverages.
Lorraine Bailey had everyone celebrating Shrove Tuesday — Mardi Gras. The last day of Carnival is celebrated in some cities such as Rome, Paris, Venice and New Orleans. It’s a great day of carnival and merrymaking. Bailey had everyone celebrating Mardi Gras as we ride on a “Ferry Boat Serenade” and go on to “Hernando’s Hideaway” to celebrate.
Harry Suski, Ernie Hilliker and Ellyn Sutehall won the 50/50 drawings. Door prizes went to Miniri and Eleanor Lemiszko. The bingo caller was Joan Suski. There were more bingo winners then usual. On the last game there were five winners!
Recognition to Kim Adams for doing yard work at the Senior Center. She did an awesome job removing overgrown bushes behind the club house. It really looks great.
There will be some renovations to the Silver Creek Senior Center in the month of March. The March meetings will be held at the Sheridan Senior Center on Route 20. All Sheridan “Happy Seniors” are invited to attend these meetings on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. There will be plenty of pies for everyone to enjoy, plus beverages for the March 7 meeting.
