Silver Creek Seniors
President Ed Newman called the Nov. 21 meeting to order with 25 in attendance.
Although they are with us always at this time of giving thanks, we felt the stronger presence of loved ones who have gone before us and are grateful to our spiritual guests who continue to bring peace, love and strength into our hearts!
Voices were raised in a solemn prayer as the Pledge of Allegiance was recited and “God Bless America” was sung with gratefulness. Chaplain Dorothy Miniri brought forth the blessing of thanks for the love that is shared, for the food prepared, and a special prayer for peace in the world.
The Thanksgiving banquet featured a table filled with varied traditional and delicious foods. Kudos to everyone who contributed to this feast of thankfulness.
On this Thanksgiving celebration, the group took a virtual day trip “Over the River and Through the Woods'” owing to the certainty that “There’s No Place Like Home for the Holidays,” especially when it’s at grandmother’s home where we gathered together to hold in memory our childhood days.
The 50/50 winners were Lorraine Bailey, Jan Snyder and Joanne Martin. Door prizes were won by Marilyn Flint and Mary Congdon. Joan Suski called Bingo with the winners being Joe Ark (twice), Ernie Hilliker, Carol Prowse (twice), Jean McDaneld, Pat Smielinski, Lorrie Newman, Thelma Hilliker (twice) and Miniri.
A reminder to all seniors 55 and older, the next meeting in Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 1 p.m. at the senior club house on Route 5 in Silver Creek.
